Labor Day Rally

Come out for your community. Corporations and banks and investors have lobbyists. People--working people and people who are looking for work--need support from other people. Come show your support.

Join hundreds of your fellow San Diegans – many of them unemployed – for a Rally for the Jobless.

The rally is being held on Labor Day – of all days, Monday, September 5th. It will be at noon at Horton Plaza Park between 3rd and 4th Avenues in downtown San Diego.
This event is being hosted by MoveOn San Diego and the Rebuild the American Dream movement.

Confirmed speakers include Congressman Bob Filner – who of course is running for San Diego’s mayor, Labor Council head Lorena Gonzalez, Lori Saldana who is running against Brian Bilbray for Congress, and Floyd Morrow – a long-time local activist and former city councilman. They will be joined at this informal rally by local activists Gregg Robinson, Frank Gormlie and Jeeni Criscenzo del Rio.

Timed for noon to 1:30 pm, the event will be a demonstration for jobs.

Local grocery workers – not yet on strike – are having a rally that morning at the downtown Ralphs and plan on marching over to the Rally around the noon hour.

Everyone is asked to bring their signs, banners, flags and spirit to demand jobs and no more cuts to the social safety net.
